The General Inspectorate for Immigration resumed, starting today, May 18, the entire activity of receiving and issuing documents, on the line of granting or extending the right of residence and registration of residence of European citizens, in all offices where work is done with the public, respecting all the conditions of protection and social distancing in the counter areas.

At first the public relations activity will take place after the normal working hours, from Monday to Friday, in the time interval established at the level of each territorial immigration structure, meaning that we recommend consulting the Contact section of the public site.

We estimate a significant increase of requests as a result of the full resumption of public relations activity, with priority given to online scheduling applications.

Depending on the evolution of the situation regarding the capacity to take over and process the documents, from the level of each county, measures can be ordered to extend the work schedule, which will be communicated in advance.

The access of the persons inside the workspaces with the public is made in compliance with the indications of the police officers, the markings and the rules of social distance, and the wearing of protective masks is mandatory.

All work spaces are periodically disinfected and rigorously sanitized, and the use of disinfectants is recommended upon entering the institution.

In order to avoid parking and congestion in the workspaces, the General Inspectorate for Immigration recommends the continued use of the online document scheduling portal, before presenting them at the counter.

We remind foreign and European citizens that they have 90 days, from the date of cessation of the state of emergency, to carry out the necessary steps to register and exchange documents that have expired during this period.

As for the activity of audience, it will be carried out only in special cases, for a maximum of 15 minutes, respecting the medical recommendations to avoid prolonged interaction between people.
