MEASURES ESTABLISHED IN THE ACTIVITY OF RELATIONS WITH THE PUBLIC IN THE CONTEXT OF LIMITING THE MOVEMENT OF PERSONS

For the purpose of implementing the mandatory measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, given the limitations imposed on the freedom of movement of persons, the General Inspectorate for Immigration has new measures to manage the activity in relation with foreign and European citizens in period of emergency.

In this context, the activities of dealing with all the requests made by foreign and European citizens are suspended based on GEO 194/2002 regarding the regime of foreigners in Romania and of GO 102/2005 on the free movement on the territory of Romania of the citizens of the EU / EEA / EC member states, as well as the issuing of documents, except in cases of maximum urgency, justified.

In addition, the activities of dealing with the requests and issuing the employment / secondment formulated pursuant to GO 25/2014 regarding employment and secondment of foreigners in Romania are maintained.

Regarding the requests transmitted online through the application portaligi.mai.gov.ro, other than the issuance of the visas of employment / secondment of foreign nationals of foreign citizens, which have not yet been scheduled, will be canceled and the persons will be informed in this regard. We inform the citizens that the validity of the documents issued by the General Inspectorate for Immigration to foreign nationals ( residence permits, employment / detachment notices, return decisions, documents issued to tolerated foreigners,etc.), but also those issued to European citizens (certified by the registration of the residence or residence cards), which expire during this period, they remain valid until the date of cessation of the state of emergency.

Also, the travel documents issued to the beneficiaries of a form of international protection and persons without citizenship, as well as the temporary identity documents of the asylum seekers, remain valid.

Documents that expire during the state of emergency, issued by the public authorities, can be exchanged within 90 days from the date of cessation of the state of emergency, according to the Military Ordinance no. 3/2020, regarding the measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
